ABOUT US

Like high-performance cars, watches appeal both on a purely aesthetic level and because they’re exquisite examples of mechanical precision. So, it’s hardly surprising that many car enthusiasts are also watch enthusiasts.

Over the years, this synergy has seen numerous chronographs with links to motorsport created. However, at Octane & Lock we instead take our inspiration from the gauges and design details of the world’s most iconic road cars.

In short, we exist to help lovers of watches and cars express their twin passions via high-quality mechanical timepieces. But we also want these to be as affordable as possible, which is why we sell direct to consumers.

All Octane & Lock watches use Swiss movements, but are proudly designed, hand-assembled and regulated in Great Britain.

WHAT’S BEHIND
OUR NAME?

In addition to loving watches, Octane & Lock founder Steven Huntingford is a trained car designer and a motoring journalist. So, when he started designing his own watches, they were always going to be influenced by cars.

This connection is reflected in our name, with ‘octane’ taken from the high-octane petrol used by performance and classic cars.

Meanwhile, ‘lock’ represents the thrill of driving; after all, few things are more fun than sliding a powerful rear-wheel-drive car round a bend and keeping the back end balanced with the help of some opposite lock.

If there’s anything else that you’d like to know about our watches or our brand, we’d love to hear from you. Just email watches@octaneandlock.com or message us on our social media channels.

OUR SERVICE
PROMISE

When you buy from one of the giants of the watch industry, it’s all too easy to feel invisible and unvalued. But for a small brand like ours, every customer matters.

That means when you email us you’ll have direct access to the man who designs our watches and who founded Octane & Lock.

Just as importantly, though, we’ve partnered with the experts at Loupe Works (who assemble and maintain the watches of some of the UK’s most highly regarded microbrands) to ensure first-rate quality.

The team is exceptionally equipped to care for each watch from start to finish, working closely with us to deliver assembly, quality control, servicing and repairs.
